Are  you a student in a health discipline? 

Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network is please to invite applications for one 2026-2027 Rural Health Research Scholarships, valued at $7,500. This scholarship supports a 12-week elective or research placement in a rural New Zealand community of your choice.

Scholarship Criteria

• Applications are open to a New Zealand tertiary students enrolled in a health discipline
• Research supervision to be provided by the applicant’s tertiary institution (or equivalent), at no cost to HTRHN
• The successful candidate will be required to present their findings to HTRHN. This could be in a publication and/or presentation at a rural health conference or similar event.

Interested in a PhD exploring the commercial and economic determinants of health?

The Evidence Exchange, a research translation centre funded by Deakin University and Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth), is looking for four PhD candidates to work alongside leading experts in the field, including Professor Gary Sacks, Professor Samantha Thomas, Associate Professor Neera Bhatia and Dr Benjamin Wood.

In addition to the standard PhD stipend rate, successful candidates will be eligible for an additional $10,000 annual top-up.

The Evidence Exchange welcomes applications aligned with the following areas:
• Economic determinants of health
• Investing for health
• Policy and regulatory action
• Research translation methods on the commercial and economic determinants of health

These scholarships are available to domestic candidates only. Applications close 25 October 2026.

Value of Scholarship is $7,500 – 10 available

The GRICS Scholarship Program is available to Gippsland health professionals who wish to further their professional development in cancer care.

The focus for scholarship applications should reflect one of the following 3 of 5 action areas in the Victorian Cancer Plan 2020–2024 supported by the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services, specifically:

• Screening & early detection
• Treatment
• Wellbeing & support

Scholarships may be provided to facilitate professional development activities in:

• Cancer improvement priority outcome areas
• Quality improvement including evaluation
• Workforce development in relevant areas

The GRICS Scholarship Program is available from 1 July to 30 June each financial year, subject to annual funding received from the Department of Health and approval from the GRICS Governance Committee. Applicants who applied for scholarship funding in previous years are welcome to again apply.

This prestigious La Trobe University scholarship, in partnership with the Australian Office of National Intelligence, will be awarded to an outstanding applicant interested in connecting spatial and spectral information to understand complex materials systems at the molecular level with machine learning.

The PhD Student will work with tumour sections to develop multiple instance learning and weak supervision / spatial transcriptomics models to individualise tumour type, associated biomarkers and genomic characteristics to high precision. The resulting multipurpose machine learning workflows will lead to rapid precision diagnoses and effective individualized cancer care plans. Coding and user interface development skills will be developed.

This scholarship is open only to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand special category visa holders.

Benefits of the scholarship include:

• a stipend scholarship for three and a half years, with a value of $40,000 per annum (pro-rata), to support your living costs.

Partial scholarships valued at $700 – $3,000 are available to support participation in one of four leadership and workplace skill development programs.

These programs are designed for women at different stages of their careers who are looking to strengthen their leadership capability.

The Lowitja Institute scholarships contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership of health by providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop skills in their chosen area of study.

Through the Indigenous Health Scholarships, Australian Rotary Health is supporting the next generation of Indigenous health care providers to achieve an education that will help them assist their communities.   Each student enrolled in the program is provided with a $5,000 scholarship. The Indigenous Health Scholarship program is a collaborative project between Australian Rotary Health, participating Rotary Clubs, and the State and Commonwealth Governments.

Graduate Women Victoria offers an annual program of scholarships and bursaries for women and non-binary/gender-diverse students enrolled in universities in Victoria.

Applications will open in January 2027.

We provide financial assistance to graduate women through research Fellowships

The Fellowship funds are intended to facilitate a research project that will extend the nature and/or scope of the currently approved PhD program and the specialised knowledge and skills of the applicant.

These Fellowships are open to students who, being Australian citizens or permanent residents, are enrolled in a research doctorate in any discipline at any Australian university.

The aim of the Destination Australia scholarships is to attract and support international and domestic students to study in regional Australia, to grow and develop regional Australian education providers and offer students a high-quality learning experience. Destination Australia Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government, and are offered by education providers across regional Victoria.

The aim of the Western Alliance Associate Research Fellowship & Scholarship program is to support development of collaborative, applied and translational research that will improve health outcomes for people and communities in the western region of Victoria.
