About the position
The Rural Health Innovation Lab at La Trobe University is dedicated to addressing critical health and education challenges in rural and regional communities through innovative, multidisciplinary approaches. This role is part of a partnership between the Lab and the School of Education, focusing on a groundbreaking project that seeks to design, pilot, and evaluate an interdisciplinary school-based placement model. The project aims to undertake a scoping review of existing placement models and use the insights gained to inform the development of a new, scalable model that integrates multidisciplinary teams of health and education students into schools requiring additional support.
This initiative aligns with the recommendations of the Disability Royal Commission by preparing schools to transition away from segregated education and embrace inclusive, community-driven approaches. The Research Assistant will contribute to this project by synthesizing evidence, engaging stakeholders, and applying research findings to co-create a practical, effective placement model.
Under the guidance of Professor Miriam Tanti, Dr. Scott Alterator, and Dr. Brad Hodge, and working closely with an interdisciplinary team, the role involves leading key components of the scoping review, collaborating with schools and community partners, and ensuring the model’s design is informed by robust evidence and best practices.
